Online Theory + Practical Skills Workshop

First Aid training often inspires a sense of dread, anxiety and fear but it is a critical skill that needs to be mastered for staff working in a school. St Dunstan's College booked a training session with Turtle Life Support and took the inevitable plunge into the world of CPR and emergency response. Our team was met by the incredible duo of Barry and Fiona who immediately put all our staff's nerves at ease as they introduced themselves and set out the intentions for the day. Our fears and anxiety were forgotten as we jumped into the practical. The course material was presented in a professional and engaging manner. Our staff have come away with knowledge, understanding, practical experience and we all feel competent as trained first aiders. As Barry would say, “We are safe, our patients are safe and our environment is safe!” Our sincere thanks to the Turtle Life Support Team, your commitment and passion is infectious and we cannot wait to train with you again.

Certified First Aiders
The online theory component that I completed in advance prepared me for the practical training, which was relevant and hands-on. I find it extremely valuable to have access to all course material and to be able to download it for future reference. I am thrilled that we are partnering with Turtle Life Support and I look forward to us equipping many more Kingsmead girls as First Aiders in the future.

Brescia House School undertakes to certify its educators and administrators as Level One First Aiders.  At all times, these members are to be in certified as Level One First Aiders and training takes place on an annual basis to maintain this statistic. Level One First Aid Practical Training took place for 12 members of teaching staff and management on the 18th January 2020.  The practical training session is preceded by online theory modules which must be read and a quiz passed for each module.  This allows for the practical session to focus more on the actual acts of administering first aid.  The staff who undertook the training agreed that their level of confidence and their willingness to step forward as a first aider was boosted through the practical training, and that the session was time well spent. Having access to online theory notes as well as a hard copy manual is also considered to be of value.
